Our Week In Kansas- April 19th-26th

Our friends from Nebraska, the McCormicks, moved to Kansas and gave their pastor our CD. So the pastor called us and we were happy to go down to not only sing, but see our good friends. From Tuesday through Thursday, we were able to play for all five services. Some preachers were from North Carolina and it was hilarious to hear the accents each of them had. There were many times I'd look at my family and ask during the preaching " What did he just say? " =) The guy who announced us to play, Pastor Shepherd, couldn't say our last name. He kept calling us the Smitts, so Glen called him Mr. Shep hard just to make everyone laugh.

Thursday morning, on the way to the morning service, Rebecca, Christina and myself (Monica) were in a car accident with Mr. and Mrs. McCormick and some of us girls weren't wearing seat belts. As a truck turned in front of us, we hit him going about 35 mph and totaled the car. The air bags didn't go off and i thought the windshield shattered, but it didn't and God protected us from any serious injuries. Christina had to be in a neck brace and all the rest of us just got brused and sore. Praise God no one got seriously hurt.

Hearing the preaching and meeting like minded Christians was a very nice blessing as we felt right at home with them. God did a work through the meetings and the preaching was some of the best i've ever heard. It was awesome to be a part of this event. Thanks to all of our friends for making our week such a special one!

This is our trip down... xxxhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQmcMBsXgVY

Click the "related link" below to hear us singing at Smokey Valley Baptist Church.

Crusade In Plentywood, MT

On our way to Plentywood, Glen tried to come up with a good reason someone would name a town "Plentywood". We all laughed as he kept saying " there's plenty of wood around here.. hmm let's call it Plentywood. " lol!

So, roughly six hours later we arrived and participated it Ron Evitt's Gospel Crusade all weekend. We got to re-unite with old friends and of course, made more! :) All of us had a fantastic time. The preaching was great, the fellowship was encouraging and it seems every time we go to sing, God always blesses. On the last night we sang, a man came up to me and told me that his friends came to hear the music, not knowing it was a religious service. The wife of the couple was saved but her husband was " a christian hater ". That night, the husband received Christ as his savior. Praying for over thirty years, this wife was faithful and rejoiced to see the light of the gospel change her husbands heart. The man telling me this had tears in his eyes and thanked me for being a part of such a deep work of God in this man's life. This is what it's all about. Being used by God in such small ways to change other's lives.

To God be the glory.

All of us "young people" :)

I need to say Thank You to all the people that have donated to Lisa's Benefit Fund. THANK YOU! We received many blessings from many people. We are so grateful for family, friends and even people we don't know that well and have met as a result of this blog, that have been such a blessing. Your words and prayers are appreciated more than you will ever know.
Lisa has been doing so well!! Praise God!! She has, in my estimation, recovered about 90 to 95% of her health back, as a result of going to Tijuana, Mexico and going through the three weeks of treatment for her Lymes Disease. We are so thankful for God's mercy and grace to get us through it. He is faithful!
Thank you, again, for your gifts, prayers, cards, calls and emails. We pray that we can be a blessing to those who are going through the same situation and that God can use us somehow to help others, because of it. Thank you all so much.
We haven't done much singing this summer. Rebecca and Monica are in Nebraska helping good friends of ours sell fireworks this year. They have been gone for nearly two weeks now. They are doing well and working hard. The three older girls will be attending a Church Summer Camp our church,Open Door Baptist, again this year when they get back. We hope to get back into the swing of things in August sometime, Lord willing. It is our hearts desire to give out God's wonderful message of salvation through word and song.

North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City

We sang in Valley City March 6th at the Hi-Liners Activity Center. My cousin and her husband, Ben and Sharon Jacob, are associated with the NDWS and asked us to come sing again. We were thrilled to be asked again. It was a bit different than two years ago when we sang in the Winter Show building. (LOL) The "HAC" , as it is called, was very nice. Bleachers were pulled out on one side of the gym and a platform stage was set up in the middle of the floor for us to set up on. People came almost an hour early to get front row seats. A friend in the audience took some pictures and said he'd email them to me. I will post them as soon as I get them.
We have been to Valley City many times, singing at various churches and functions. We like going there, meeting new people and seeing familiar faces again. Afterwards my cousin from Fargo and his wife took all of us out to the Hilltop Cafe for pie and ice cream. Overall we had a great time there, as usual.

Update on the Glen Schmidt Family

Lisa had a three week stay in Tijuana, Mexico, where she was treated for her Lyme's disease. She was on IV's from 7:30am to 5:00pm every day, all day long. We had initially been told that it would be a two week stay, but after two weeks they looked at her blood again and determined that another week was going to have to be taken.
We were able to stay in San Diego, CA and were met by Shawn McCormick, the only person we knew that lived there. We spent the Saturday before her treatment with Shawn and had a wonderful time. Shawn works for the US Coast Guard and we were able to tour the naval base and his ship, which was pretty cool!! We also attended his church, Canyon Ridge Baptist, and met a lot of wonderful people. Bernie, the song leader, came and visited Lisa twice while she was in the hospital and another guy we met, Mike, kept us in stitches the whole time we were with him Sunday and Sunday evening. God is so good!
My sister, Geri, who lives in Santa Cruz was going to visit also, but decided not to and instead started a benefit fund for Lisa to help defer the costs of the treatments, flights and ongoing expenses that we have incurred over the last 2 1/2 years. Here is a sample of the poster that will be posted for it.

Lisa Schmidt Lymes Disease Benefit Fund

The Glen Schmidt Family has been involved in a music ministry for over 6 years now and for the last 3 Lisa, the mother of 7, has been battling Lyme’s Disease. Chronic fatigue, leg pain, peripheral neuropathy and insomnia, to name only a few of the symptoms, were a constant in her life for almost 3 years. Lisa has seen many doctors, but found little or no relief from these symptoms. Through much prayer and the Lord’s guidance she did finally find a test and treatment that would help. The Schmidt’s went to San Diego on a referral from another doctor, where she was tested and sent to a hospital in Tijuana, Mexico for specialized treatment for three weeks. The treatment was a success, but also a huge financial burden for this homeschooling family. The treatment is not covered by insurance. The Lisa Schmidt Lyme’s Disease Benefit Fund was set up by a loving family member to help the Schmidt family overcome some of the financial burden that the treatment for this disease has placed upon them. If you would like to help lessen the hardship this disease has caused, please send your donations to:

LISA SCHMIDT LYMES DISEASE BENEFIT FUND
C/O DAKOTA COMMUNITY BANK
919 SOUTH 7TH ST.
BISMARCK, ND 58504

Thank you for caring!
Please feel free to email us if you have any questions concerning Lisa or the benefit fund.

On our way to the Thousand Oaks Gospel Fest in June, we stopped in Cooperstown, North Dakota and ate lunch. While we were there a guy pulled up to our trailer and parked behind it. He waved me over and asked who we were, where we were from and what we did. I explained to him we sang at churches etc. and that we were on our way to the Thousand Oaks Gospel Fest. We chit chatted for awhile and he told me the Lord had blessed him and his business so much. Then he said the Lord had laid on is heart to give me something, to help our ministry. He got out his wallet and gave me some bills. Not looking to see what he had given me I stuck it in my pocket and thanked him. I gave him a CD and business card and he left. Walking back to the swings I pulled out the money that he had given me and found that he had given me three hundred dollars!! That was almost the exact amount we needed to pay for gas for ourselves and my daughter and her husband, who had driven separately. When I relayed the story to my wife and kids they were all dumbfounded and couldn't believe it. What a blessing!!! We had no worries after that, knowing the Lord was definitely with us.
Hi everyone!
Thank you for looking at our website! We are up and running now and will be adding to our webpage slowly, but surely.

We have been quite busy lately. I have just gotten back from San Diego, CA. Lisa and I went there to admit her to a hospital, just across the border in Tijuana Mexico, to get treatments for her Lymes disease. We have been battling this for almost 3yrs now. We are confident that these treatments will alleviate her symptoms and get her back on her feet. She is scheduled to be there for two weeks and will be back on the 30th of Oct. Thankfully, we have been able to keep in touch with her over the internet, with webcams, emails and calling cards. We all miss her very much. If you would like to send her an email please do, she would love to hear from you.

I don't know what we would do without family, friends and God's people. We have been so greatly blessed by the love that friends, family and even people we don't even know, have shown us. We have been very humbled by the generosity people have shown in giving and helping us pay for these treatments. I can only hope that we can show our love in the same matter as greatly as it has been shown to us. God is so faithful!

Again thank you for your prayers, emails and everything! They are a great comfort and encouragement to us.
